CLIENT SUCCESS STORY
When Wei Cheng first came to Excelsior Works in 2019, he was an immigrant navigating a low income, tough living conditions, and high life stress. We helped him land a janitorial role at SFO at $19.18/hour—a vital first step, but Wei Cheng wanted more for his future.
In late 2024, he returned with a goal: a stable career with good pay and benefits. Guided by our belief that knowledge changes lives, Wei Cheng conquered the language barrier and enrolled in ESL and Custodian Vocational Training at City College. He never missed a class, studied relentlessly, and earned his certificate in May 2025.
Our team then helped him apply for the highly competitive San Francisco Citywide Exam. In May 2026, Wei Cheng officially passed and is now in the "first-pick" hiring group for a permanent City Custodian position with a starting salary of over $30/hour.
