At Excelsior Works, our mission is to empower our community through equitable access to employment and essential resources. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve economic stability and thrive. We are Committed to build long-lasting relationships with our community members, connecting them not only to job opportunities but also to the resources necessary for lasting success—such as benefits, education, health, and legal support.
HISTORY
Founded by fellows part of the San Francisco Foundation (SFF) back in 2011. They were part of a program called Koshland Civic Union Program that each fall since 1982 has identified underserved neighborhoods across its five Bay Area counties to invest in. In its history, the Koshland Program has served generations of our most vulnerable community members. It has strengthened communities across the Bay Area by investing in local leaders who turn neighborhood challenges into opportunities for change.
Excelsior Works carries the history of all the challenges that SFF members have tried to overcome with our Bay Area community for decades. Our commitment to our low income and immigrant communities is derived from all the work that made possible for us to be here today making the difference in people’s lives.
